Effect of Whole Body X-Irradiation on Serum Ceruloplasmin Activity in Rabbits

Abstract
It is the purpose of this investigation to study the relationship between serum concentration of mucoprotein and cerulopasmin in rabbits after X-irradiation Hof single doses of 450r and !a00r with or without reduced glutathione (GSH) preadministered, lgm per kg of body weight intraperitoneally just prior to irradiation.
Rabbits were divided into four groups, that is 450r-irradiation, 900r-irradiation, 450r-irradiation with preadministered GSH and 900r-irradiation with preadministered GSH. The blood samples were throun out from marginal ear vein at intervals of a day before irradiation (control) and 12, 60 hours, 5, 10, 15 and 20 days after irradiation
The results obtained were summerized as follows:
1. Serum cerulopasmin levels were reached peak, about 70 per cent of control, at 12hours after irradiation and then gradually dec;reased to the initial levels on 15th day in both 950 and 900r-irradiation as the Y-irradiation with preadministered GSH group.
2. Serum a2-mucoprotein fraction also shown peak levels at 12 hours after irradiation and returned to initial levels on 15thday in all of four groups.
3. Significant changes were rot observed in activities of serum transaminase and alkaline phosphatases in all groups throughout the period of 15 days experiment.
